abc fm 97.3 - cwbb - 10 of the awesome twelvesome - 21.3.17

"AWESOME TWELVESOME" - with Nick Reinberger onTuesday 21st March 2017

Here is a photo taken which includes 10 of the 12 member senior brass band ensemble
the "Awesome Twelvesome" at Illawarra 97.3FM  Studio
after a performance and interview on air with Nick Reinberger.
The 12 band members in the group that played are:

Cornets:        Ken M, Neil W, Hanna B, Ron B,
Horns:           Fay C, Leititia S
,
Euphonium: Des C,
(also Conductor)
Baritone:       Nettie W,
Trombone:    Christine W, Bob W,
Bass:              Bill S, Alex F.

Music performed was:
"
Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines",
"Teddy Bear's Picnic"
and
Hymn: Abide With Me.
(This was also played on ABC facebook/youtube)

Nick Reinberger contacted us as he had been advised by the NSW Government,
that the City of Wollongong Brass Band had been successful with an Arts NSW Grant
towards advertising costs for our four concerts planned in 2017.

The band performed 'live' on air in the studio and in between numbers,
Nick interviewed both Bob Wallbaum and Des Cannings,
who played euphonium and also conducted the group on the day.
Tthis was then followed by morning tea with NIck, ABC staff,
and other guests as shown in this photograph.

Junior Bands - Wollongong Eisteddfod

On Saturday June 14 our junior Brass and Junior Wind bands competed in the City of Wollongong Eisteddfod - Bands and Ensembles event at Wollongong Town Hall.

Both bands played extremely well to a full Town Hall audience and out of a field of eight (8) groups (including strings) our Junior Brass Band gained a second place.

We are very fortunate to have these two junior bands in our organisation under the directorship of Des Cannings and Leanne Walton.

CONGRATULATIONS go to all.

Bob has been our caretaker M.D. for a little over a year and he has, after some consideration, offered his services on a permanent basis.
We welcome Bob and look forward to an enjoyable and successful musical future.
