Robert Read - Musical Director Brass Band

Robert Read. Hailing from the City of Bath, England. Robert has a rich history in brass banding.
In 1990 he emigrated to Australia and joined the City of Wollongong Brass Band, taking up the baton a year later.
After five years he stepped down to pursue his love of jazz.
In 2009 the band welcomed him back as a player, and since September 2012 conducted the band while a new Musical Director iwas sought.
After some consideration he offered his services on a permanent basis.
His reappointment as MD was confirmed January 2014.
Robert runs his own brass and woodwind instrument repair shop, which combines his love of music with his engineering skills.

 
Leanne Walton - Musical Director (Senior & Junior Wind Bands)

Leanne Walton first discovered the joy of making music at 5years old, playing tunes on a xylophone with coloured notes and coloured music.  Soon this turned into piano lessons and then at 11 years old Leanne began learning the clarinet as part of the school band program.

Des Cannings - Musical Director (Junior Brass Band)

Des Cannings

After learning classical guitar for a number of years, Des Cannings finally discovered the Trombone at age twelve in his high school band. Since then he has been involved with a number of bands, including the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music's award-winning Wind Ensemble and their Jazz Orchestra, which recently toured the USA.
