CWBB - Senior Brass Band:   - M.D.  Bob Read

As well as some local performances such as church market days etc., senior brass is currently rehearsing for a concert to be held on 17th June in conjunction with Arcadians Lamplighters Male Choir.

Of course we have our normal four Anzac Parades & services coming up prior to this.

On 21st March the band was asked to perform at the local ABC FM radio station to promote our upcoming concert as they had been notified that we were successful with an Arts NSW Grant administered by the Band Association of NSW.  An interview was done throughout the half hour programme with President Bob Wallbaum and Des Cannings (Jnr. Brass  M.D.who stepped in for our regular M.D. Whilst he was on holiday, thanks Des). This was something quite different and enjoyable with a great morning tea supplied afterwards and an informal chat with the radio announcer and staff.

On Friday 24th March, Band Association President Jeff Markham visited our band rehearsal (and had a 'sit in' of course) to make a presentation of the APRA /AMCOS certificate for which we were the very first band in NSW (and Australia according to Jeff) to sign up for and receive.  The certificate was presented to our Librarian Iris Wright as she is our 'legend' for knowing what and when to photocopy anything.

We can't live without her. Thank  you Iris we all appreciate the work you do for us. (Photo)

Recently we completed building another extra rehearsal room and the floor covering is almost finished.  This now gives us 2 separate rehearsal rooms plus the main hall to enable workshop spaces, and teaching rooms etc.

CWBB - Beginner Brass Band - M.D. Des Cannings

We've started up another beginner brass band, still finalising numbers but up to 21 at the moment. This is the largest intake since our very first brass demonstration at local schools in 2013. Thanks to Des and all the  senior members who have assisted in going to the schools and helping out at the band hall. A lot of time had been spent over the  weeks prior to the demonstration in getting instruments and cases ready to go. Our music room shelves where the instruments are stored are looking rather bare at the moment!

CWBB - Junior Brass Band: - M.D. Des Cannings

We held a Junior Brass Band camp  early in February at the Girl Guides Camp at Mt Keira. This was fantastic and all the juniors really enjoyed and excelled themselves both musically and socially, Thanks must go to all the senior members and tutor's that attended. The music rehearsed at the camp will be performed at a concert planned for the Diggers Retirement home on the 1st of April at 2pm. This venue always has an appreciative audience to play to.

In addition to the 2016 beginner brass being promoted into junior brass,  another two junior players, a euphonium player in year 9 and a cornet player in year 6 have joined, which now gives Junior Brass a membership of 30.

CWWB -Senior & Junior Wind Bands -  M.D.  Leanne Walton

Junior Wind Band  performed at Dapto Moonlight Movies in February  which went really well.  Lots of great feedback from the organisers and queries about booking the band from other stall holders.  Thankfully, rain held off until the last minute of the movie.  Event was enjoyed by all.

Senior Wind Band were to play at the Corrimal moonlight movies on 25th March but unfortunately this was cancelled due to rain.

Senior Wind Band is about to start preparation of music for a concert “Latin Fiesta” they are presenting on 12th August.
